A native of Harlem, New York, Silk decided to pack his bags and relocate to Los Angeles, California where he could gain a higher level of exposure throughout the entertainment world. Silk took his first steps into dance learning from local street dancers, mastering one of the most important elements of hip hop “Freestyling”. Always looking for experiences to advance his talent, Silk joined many repertory and dance companies where his creativity and drive quickly lead him to becoming head choreographer and artistic director. With a strong respect for all genres of Hip Hop dance i.e., “poppin,” “lockin,” and “breakin” led Silk into teaching, where his expertise and charismatic personality allowed him the opportunity to teach at studios all over the U.S. including the legendary Debbie Reynolds Studio. Silk Smoove can be seen nationally on television shows such as The MTV Video Music Awards, Nike, Reebok, 2002 NBA All-Star Game, Season Two of America’s Next Top Model, The 2006 Miss Universe Pageant, as well as numerous stage shows, industrials, commercials and music videos. With a profound passion and commitment for the performing arts, Mr. Smoove has the genuine desire and dedication to continue raising the bar by bringing that hard hitting and funky New York style to the world.
